Saudi Cup 2022

For the widely anticipated sporting event, Saudi Cup 2022, the DLE Team master planned and designed 48,000 sqm of space.

The world’s most valuable horse race, Saudi Cup 2022 was a partnership between the Ministry of Culture and the Jockey Club of Saudi Arabia. Attended in person and broadcast globally, the event attracted a spectatorship of local and international sporting fans as well as fashion icons and lovers of haute couture.

Having successfully designed and executed Saudi Cup 2021, the 2022 event presented the Team with a significantly increased scope and scale. Over a month-long period, multiple temporary structures at the King Abdulaziz Racetrack were activated to host up to 20,000 spectators daily and elevate the Saudi Cup brand.

General Admission

The General Admission area was designed to appeal to all senses, offering a range of entertainment to families and groups. Each side of the main axis connecting the entrance to the racetrack offered different activities, including a video dome, a kids area and several retail and food outlets. Art installations introduced an artistic element and a performance stage hosted live acts. Featuring multiple large screens, the stage area also enabled the general public to watch the race in real time. Landscape design presented various options for public seating.

Al Abayya VIP Entrance

The VIP village served as an exclusive entrance experience upon arrival at the racecourse. A circular design concept featured multiple activations including two restaurants, sponsor booths and a media space hosting guest speakers. The building facades also presented visually captivating backdrops for photos of guests and their fashionable race attire.

A cultural lounge dedicated to the Ministry of Culture celebrating the “Year of Saudi Coffee” provided a venue for coffee tasting and traditional musical performance. The lounge design exuded a cosy heritage atmosphere with a modern twist, giving a sense of authenticity and cultural presence.

Jamran Suites

The Jamran Suites offered the best views of the sporting action in exclusive comfort and style. Featuring locally inspired patterns and artwork, the suites also offered a private dining experience. Opening onto the terrace, spectators had the option to either watch the action indoors on screen or enjoy a full view of the track from the balcony.

Al Rhaba Pavilion

Dining decks featured high quality materials and finishing for a timeless feel, giving a sense of permanency to the temporary structures. A fusion of contemporary and traditional elements offered authentic dining experiences within three restaurants serving various cuisines.

Dinner Under the Stars

The night before the official Saudi Cup race, Dinner Under the Stars took place beside the racetrack. Surrounded by nature, an outdoor lounge setting, and dining area was illuminated by the subtle glow of fairy lights, still maintaining the sense of dining beneath the stars.
