Layali Diriyah 2024 Installations

In Collaboration with Karim + Elias (UAE)

"From This Earth" is composed of over 1,400 hand-sculpted sand spheres, stacked into porous screens that evoke the traditional mashrabiya. Inspired by Diriyah’s vernacular design, the installation recalls the city’s triangular wind openings and iconic rooftop silhouettes.

In Collaboration with Vendel and de Wolf (Netherlands)

"Fluxit" features illuminated bamboo sticks arranged in a teepee formation, evoking the glow of a bonfire. The installation nods to Saudi traditions of outdoor gatherings and camping, offering a warm and communal presence.

In Collaboration with David Trubridge (New Zealand)

This light installation brings a quiet sense of magic to the landscape. Saucer-shaped lanterns with cutout patterns cast light above and below, while pendant lamps suspended between the trees provide a soft, ambient illumination.

In Collaboration with Karim + Elias (UAE)

"Palm Whispers" uses gold reflective material to capture the timeless rustle of palm leaves. Transforming sound into a shimmering visual experience, the installation explores themes of memory, movement, and stillness.

Fragments of Diriyah is a state-of-the-art immersive digital exhibit produced by Designlab Experience. Through cinematic visuals and compelling storytelling, the installation brings to life the Diriyah Gate Development Authority’s future vision for the historic site.
